Protein Supplements

Before the surgery, I couldn't recommend Oh Yeah! shakes enough. They are high in protein (35 grams), lactose-free, and taste delicious. They come in chocolate, cookies & creme, vanilla creme, bananas & creme, and strawberries & creme. They are an excellent tool during the 2-week pre-surgery liquid-ish diet. Toss one of these with some ice in a blender and... oh so good. It seems like you're cheating.

Unfortunately, after my surgery I became sugar intolerant, and these sweet babies made me feel like I had been on an all-night-bender.

The protein option I most use is Jay Robb Egg White Protein. Each packet/scoop is 24 grams of protein, lactose-free, and the egg base makes it easily digestible. It comes in chocolate, strawberry, vanilla, and unflavored. I tend to use chocolate and vanilla.

You can get the sample kit through the Jay Robb website. Vitamin Shoppe tends to be the cheapest place to find the big bags. Also, you can head down to your closest store and they have single use packets of all of the Jay Robb products (including the whey isolates).

PROTEIN SUGGESTIONS FOR CLEAR LIQUID PHASE

Isopure Zero Carb
20oz, 40g protein

They also suggested Protein Blitz, but I think they stopped making them. Really, if you head down to Vitamin Shoppe or GNC and tell them you need a clear liquid protein drink, they should be able to help you out. Personally, I hated all of the Isopures, but I had to do what I had to do.
